Palsana Enviro (PEPL) Ransomware Disclosure

Palsana Enviro (PEPL) is a leading environmental services and waste‑management company based in Indonesia. In late 2023 the organization suffered a ransomware attack that compromised its IT infrastructure, encrypted critical data, and temporarily halted its operational processes. Security analysts identified the attackers’ use of a phishing vector to gain initial access, followed by deployment of the Tokaniche ransomware variant, which demanded a ransom for key restoration. Despite having robust security protocols, the incident exposed gaps in email filtering and remote access controls, prompting the company to intensify its cybersecurity investment and enhance employee training programs.
